- Hosting an event is open to any comics retailer (physical
stores specializing in comics material or with a Diamond Comics Distributor
account) in the U.S. and Canada. For practical and logistical reasons,
we cannot involve stores from other countries this year.
- The price to participate is $150 US. This covers as many teams as
you want participating at one physical location. The physical location
does not need to be the store itself if you need room elsewhere, but
all of a site's participants must do their work in a single building.
(The money, once paid, is non-refundable.)
- For your $150, you get:
Two copies of a one-color promo poster before the event. We will
start sending this out in January at the latest.
- At least $195 (cover price) worth of the winners book upon
publication
- Your location and contact information (including a graphic logo
within reasonable size limits) posted on this website
Additionally,
if your check arrives by February 1st, you will
receive 6 JAM WAR t-shirts in your selection of sizes (S-XL,
or replace 3
shirts with 2 shirts XXL-XXXL). What you do with these shirts
is up to you. You can put them on your store workers to promote
the event, you can give them to your participants, you can feed
them to your goat.
- The event location needs to have some sort of internet access. This
will be used to access the website at the start of the event, to view
the details of the story. It will also be used at the end of the event
to email pictures of the finished work, so you will need a scanner
as well, and a digital camera may be handy. (CLARIFICATION ADDED JANUARY
28th, adjusted MARCH 12: You will need to upload either low-res scans
or high-res photos of the finished stories within a few minutes of
the
end of the
event
- they need to be clear enough that we could see if additional work
was done later. You will also need to supply either very clean photocopies
or high-res scans, burned onto CD and postmarked on April 3rd and arriving
by April 6th or uploaded on April 2nd. That way, you don't have to
do the scanning in store
at the end of the long
day.)
- Event hosts will also be in charge of watching out for cheating (basically,
the use of pre-drawn materials) at their event location.
